Overtaking on the left on conventional roads with one lane in each direction and single carriageway
On March 21, 2022, the new Law on Road Traffic and Road Safety came into force and eliminated the possibility for cars and motorcycles to exceed speed limits by 20 km/h on conventional roads when overtaking other vehicles.
This measure was intended to address the accident rate resulting from head-on collisions on conventional roads in Spain, with the exception of Catalonia and the Basque Country, caused by overtaking manoeuvres. This report aims to analyse the 24-hour accident figures for overtaking on the left on conventional roads with one carriageway and a single lane in each direction of travel in the years 2019, 2023 and 2024.
The Spanish version of the document is available in the section Data and Resources: "Adelantamientos por la izquierda en vías convencionales de un carril por sentido y única calzada".

Driving motorcycles with a category B licence held for 3 years
This document analyses the number of drivers involved in casualty accidents at two levels:
- On one hand, the figures for all motorcycle drivers, regardless of the engine capacity of the vehicle they were driving. This makes it possible to draw conclusions about the accident rates for drivers with a category B+3 licence within the group of motorcyclists.
- On the other hand, analyses only the subgroup of drivers riding motorcycles up to 125 cc. This makes it possible to conduct a more homogeneous study on the accident rate for drivers with a category B+3 licence by comparing their figures with those for other motorcycle riders who were driving vehicles with the same engine capacity.
The Spanish version of the document is available in the section Data and Resources: "Conducción de motocicletas con el Permiso B y 3 años de antigüedad"
